The adventure of the Sardinia National. After the recognition and affiliation of the Fins (Federatzione Isport Natzionale Sardu) to the Conifa (read more here), Confederation of Independent Football Associations, the first convocation of the TC Bernardo Mereu for the first historic match.
50 players will take part in this first preparation for the 2019 European Championships organised by the football federation, which is linked to teams representing states without international recognition, ethnic minorities and regions and micronations not affiliated to FIFA.
The event will be held in June in the Artsakh Republic, Azerbaijan. Among those called up for the friendly match on 19 March at the Frogheri stadium in Nuoro, against a selection of foreign players playing in Sardinia, are many illustrious names.
But pto be part of the Sardinia National certain requirements must be met: all players born in the territory of Sardinia can be called up (without this preventing them from being called up for their country's national team), the children of a Sardinian parent or players who have played for a long time in the territory in question.
