The punishment finally came. The Armento player, guilty of assaulting a 17-year-old referee during a match against Matera Sassi, will not be allowed to play again until 30 June 2021. In fact, a match in group B of Lucania's second category made the headlines for the violent physical assault on a minor referee on 11 November last year.

Kicks and punches to the head left the referee on the ground, forcing him to seek medical help. Taken to the emergency room, the young referee was diagnosed with a three-day prognosis for his injuries and trauma. Because of the attack, the match was suspended, and the sports judge also ruled a 3-0 defeat for Armento.

Even the regional FIGC, in the person of Piero Rinaldi, president of the Basilicata regional committee, through a note issued by the press office, condemned 'the cowardly attack on the match director, to whom we express our solidarity and that of the entire amateur football movement of Basilicata, which has nothing to do with this way of acting contrary to our sporting values based on loyalty, fair play and respect'.
