It took place yesterday at the Quirinal the celebration ceremony of the 120 years of the FIGC. Guests of the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella all components, from the commissioner of the FIGC Fabbricini to the number one of the Coni Malagò up to the President of UEFA Ceferin. Also present, of course, were the men's and women's national teams (the two captains spoke Giorgio Chiellini e Sara Gama), representatives of five-a-side football, beach football, football leagues, coaches and all those who collaborate or have collaborated in the past with the Federation.
After the customary speech by the President Mattarellavarious protagonists took the floor, including Fabbricini e Malagò.
Fabbricini: “For us there is great emotion and gratitude. Italy is committed to climbing up the international value ladder. Football, the sport most loved by Italians, is a family that is the heritage of the nation. And in the near future we hope to relive even more magical nights together with our President of the Republic. The high point of the celebrations of our first 120 years, marked by so many successes and stories, is to be here as guests in the home of the Italians. For us there is great emotion and gratitude“.
Malagò: “Today is a very beautiful, important day, celebrating this country's long history of love and passion for the most popular sport. Twenty Italian regions see football as the most popular sport, in terms of number of members and clubs. And it is not just a matter of numbers and statistics, but also of results: the first Italian victory in the world was football. Today here at Quirinal the entire world of Italian football is represented and we are proud of this as an Olympic committee“.
